Meet your Therapist
Jennifer Van Berkum, LCSW, LICSW, MCAP
Psychotherapist licensed in Florida (SW24404) and Alabama (6668C)
Hi! My name is Jennifer. I’m a licensed therapist and the founder of Happier Chapters Counseling, LLC. I work with adults navigating workplace burnout and chronic stress using a casual, non-judgmental, and direct approach. Many of my clients feel overwhelmed, emotionally drained, or disconnected from their work and are looking for sustainable change—not just another way to cope.
I integrate evidence-based approaches, including CBT, trauma-informed care, and Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART). I also hold a Master’s Level Certified Addiction Professional (MCAP) credential. Therapy with me is collaborative and goal-oriented, with an emphasis on helping clients feel more regulated.
My work focuses on helping clients understand the root causes of burnout, rebuild motivation, and develop tools to manage stress without compromising performance or well-being. I’m especially passionate about supporting healthcare providers in their recovery from compassion fatigue.
I have five years of professional experience in the behavioral health field, primarily working with individuals who are looking to overcome addiction in agency and hospital settings. As the wife of a physician and someone who has worked closely with RNs, psychologists, and other healthcare professionals, I understand firsthand how compassion fatigue, emotional exhaustion, and constant pressure can take a toll.
I’m a laid-back therapist. It’s not unusual for me to wear jeans, bandanas, or sandals at work. I like to attend local art scene events to support the community and connect with potential clients at my vendor. Like many mental health professionals, I have lived experience and firmly believe therapists should go to therapy.
I’m a nerd for all things psychology. In my free time, you will find me spending time with my two cats, at the beach with my pampered Pembroke Welsh Corgi, crocheting, reading non-fiction, or drinking an iced caramel macchiato from Starbucks. I also co-host a podcast! Yay!
